The XR-7 is the latest PC-based USB scan tool. It supports all OBD-II protocols and it works with a number of compatible programs. This Elm Compatible Interface allows you to connect your car to your PC/Laptop via USB and troubleshoot any problems in your vehicle by reading the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) that appear when the "check engine" light is showing. This USB->KKL Interface is designed for use with VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda cars 1994 - 2004. Later models are CAN-BUS and need the XK2 model. This cable is compatible with all 3rd party applications, like Vag-COM. You can access all systems that the K-Lines can function like ABS, Engine, Transmission, Radio etc. This cable with your laptop and software can do far more than your typical hand held scan tool for these autos. Just to be clear - this unit ONLY works with VAG, ie VW/Audi. If you have any other make you need the XR-7 cable.
